The Forensic Toxicology Laboratory determines the presence of alcohol, drugs, and other substances by analyzing body fluids and tissues. Medical examiners use toxicology results to determine the cause and manner of death.
CLINICAL LABORATORY CERTIFICATION
This program operates under the authority of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services enforcing clinical laboratory regulations. Facilities performing any testing of human samples for the purpose of assessing a condition or diagnosing an illness are considered a laboratory and are subject to these regulations.
ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY CERTIFICATION
This program establishes and enforces standards for laboratories providing compliance testing results to the Department of Environmental Quality. Laboratories requesting certification must complete an application, participate in proficiency testing programs, and meet state laboratory standards.
