Certifications

The Utah CLIA State Agency operates under the authority of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services enforcing clinical laboratory regulations. Facilities performing any testing of human samples for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment of, or the assessment of the health of, human beings are subject to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.

This program establishes and enforces standards for laboratories providing compliance testing results to the Department of Environmental Quality. Laboratories requesting certification must complete an application, participate in proficiency testing programs, and meet state laboratory standards.
