Biothreat Response Laboratory

The Biothreat Response Laboratory works with physicians, clinicians, hospitals, laboratories and veterinarians to provide testing for the following agents/diseases:

  • Bacillus anthracis (Anthrax)
  • Ebola virus
  • Brucella spp. (Brucellosis)
  • Francisella tularensis (Tularemia)
  • Burkholderia mallei (Glanders)
  • Novel Coronavirus (MERS-CoV)
  • Burkholderia pseudomallei (Melioidosis)
  • Orthopox viruses
  • Clostridium botulinum (Botulism)
  • Yersinia pestis (Plague)
  • Coxiella burnetii (Q-fever)

This testing is done using the following technologies:

  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
  • Direct Fluorescent Antibody (DFA)
  • Culture (Bacterial)
  • Microagglutination Assays (Serological)
